  1. Message...
Recap of going through the book of Acts
Talking about Peter and John... and the angel break-out...

    (NIV)Acts 5:27-32
Having brought the apostles, they made them appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. [28] "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name," he said. "Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man's blood." [29] Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men! [30] The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead---whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. [31] God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel. [32] We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

Before the priests and testifying ..
    V.31- Prince... (NIV)Acts 5:31
God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.
    Translating from greek for leader...
3:15 another example... Heb 2:10... then ch 12: champion or pioneer of faith...
..of the heroic... the hero of all heroes....
That terminology had strong ties w the people of the day... Jesus is the hero of all heroes. Where they got their courage from.... his spirit fills us.
How would you define a hero?
Like Capn America, Superman & Robin Hood.
    Men & women of 9/11...

    Heroes have inner strength....
Giving a voice to the infirmed are heroes..
    Heroes are driven by faith...
    (NIV)Luke 9:23
Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Where did Jesus acts of heroism lead Him?
Are we allowing the cross to deconstruct us?
Do we have the Spirit of Jesus moving in me?
Do u want the Spirit of Jesus to fill you: v.29
    (NIV)Acts 5:29
Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men!

  2. Are we the same everywhere?
Heroes have fidelity to something greater than their own hearts.
If we make people out to be smaller- that's the acts of a coward.
Jesus had a compassion for women. Women who were marginalized...

A look @ Capn America.... he had courage, inner strength ... good could be heroic.. acts of sacrifice .... to protect.
Jesus took the grenade for us.
    Heb 12:2 (NIV)Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We need to consider him who endured the cross.

The apostles continued to do so.
Love & compassion spring boarded the faith... the more it waz oppressed the more it grew...
They obeyed God not men cuz Jesus is our hero. Jesus chose the path to His death. His acts of heroism led to His death.
"Not my will but yours be done" consider him... Deny ourselves .. deconstruction ...
Quoted Westfall... about his view of God vs. an idol.
Weighing our motives in our hearts...
Following in the footsteps of the Apostles.. helping the marginalized ... walking the path of the cross.
