(NIV)Acts 1:1-8
In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach [2] until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. [3] After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. [4] On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. [5] For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
[6] So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" [7] He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. [8] But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Bring up similarities w our church... we're gonna get uncomfortable ....there's so much demand and risk to follow Christ..
We want to have His priorities ....
Luke was implying that there was more to do w Acts... who is going to do thiz work?
He was always asking ppl to be redemptive in the World....
Like Jesus feeding the five thousand...
Imitate Jesus' teaching...
John 14:12

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
As a community of Christ followers we will do more than He did...
Early church was small but powerful...
The had a belief of a resurected king..
A real king...
They had to rely heavily on each other.. benevolent and humble.
They impacted a whole culture. They believed in the king and invited ppl in their community. Christianity was a whole new culture of equals. It was about relationships all together.
They follwed a kink that wanted to shine light in darkness ...
He empowered woman amd lowly ppl...
Acts had that....
Equality in the Kingdom hasn't changed..
Jon talks about being coredeemers....

He said the Kingdom og God was a priority after He rose from the dead....
We serve a King that has changed everything ...
Can we speak redemptively in the World?

Jesus talx about fishing for men.... about how culturally not done.... we still need to do that today...
Jesus made metaphors about The Kingdom.... about it being Now... now... ruling and reignng now... God is present now....
Speaking truth..helping the needy... rebuild ppl...helping them... that's the Kingdom... let your kingdom come,let your will be done...
Is Jesuz reigning as King in our relationships now?

His will be done...this should be in your daily prayers... Kingdom Come...
Lord Jesus break in to... home..work... music..
We want to show what the Kingdom looks like... rebuild restore redeem..
Let Jesus' power come....
We are sent ones.. The Sent Ones....
Come Lord Jesus...
