  1. (NIV)Genesis 12:1

The Lord had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
    (NIV)Acts 9:1-6

Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples. He went to the high priest [2] and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. [3] As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. [4] He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"
[5] "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. [6] "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."
    (NIV)Acts 10:19-20
While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Simon, three men are looking for you. [20] So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them."

Jason asked about personal missions ... testimonials ...
Life is fwd momentum .. fwd march to the grave...
    The Mission of God is....

Being a beachhead for God's glory...
    Rev. 5:9...(NIV)Revelation 5:9
And they sang a new song: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.

    We need to move fwd...
How do wr go in geo-synchronis orbit w the Lord?

    Obedience... blind obedience...

Jason talx about his missions to Uruguay ... being flexible ...
Obedient to the li'l bits of information along the way...
Different types of obedience ... attitude of willing heart... gen.12:1..
Half-heartedly.... like the Isrealites in Exodus....
Jonah- taken captive by Gods will..
We should be careful... not to quench The Spirit...
    OT Saul 1 Sam. 15 (NIV)1 Samuel 15:19-23
Why did you not obey the Lord? Why did you pounce on the plunder and do evil in the eyes of the Lord?" [20] "But I did obey the Lord," Saul said. "I went on the mission the Lord assigned me. I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back Agag their king. [21] The soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder, the best of what was devoted to God, in order to sacrifice them to the Lord your God at Gilgal." [22] But Samuel replied: "Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. [23] For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king."

  2. Practice Bionic Obedience ...

B.O. is a challenge to us...
We have the technology - we can build it better, stronger, faster...
    Ex.4:1-4 (NIV)Exodus 4:1-4

Moses answered, "What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, `The Lord did not appear to you'?"
[2] Then the Lord said to him, "What is that in your hand?" "A staff," he replied. [3] The Lord said, "Throw it on the ground." Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it. [4] Then the Lord said to him, "Reach out your hand and take it by the tail." So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand.

    Gen 22:1-3
    (NIV)Genesis 22:1-3

Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!"
"Here I am," he replied. [2] Then God said, "Take your son , your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about. " [3] Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about.

God tested him.... sometimes it's painful...
    (NIV)Genesis 22:9-10
When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. [10] Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

For God sometimes the process is what He's about. We're tested for His purposes ...

The whole world is watching us...
Sometimes it could be aggravating to others...
    Jer. 7:1-2
    (NIV)Jeremiah 7:1-2

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: [2] "Stand at the gate of the Lord's house and there proclaim this message:
" `Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the Lord.
    (NIV)Jeremiah 8:22
Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people?

    Everyone hated Jeremiah ....
B.O. can be an example of a longterm commitment ...
Noah had 120 years to build the ark..
U might spend your whole life... maybe superhuman endurance .... the Spirit of God is there w you.. God is faithful....
What mission has God set before you...
    Practice obedience...
We might have the mental formation to carry it out... simple obedience is where to start...
We are called to move forward- God set the agenda
