The Keating's talked about Advent... (NIV)Isaiah 64:1-9

"Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before you! [2] As when fire sets twigs ablaze and causes water to boil, come down to make your name known to your enemies and cause the nations to quake before you! [3] For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you. [4] Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. [5] You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved? [6] All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. [7] No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and made us waste away because of our sins. [8] Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. [9] Do not be angry beyond measure, O Lord; do not remember our sins forever. Oh, look upon us, we pray, for we are all your people."
(NIV)Isaiah 64:1-9

  1. Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before you!

Jon started his talk about meekness. Meekness
    num 12:3

    (ESV)Matthew 5:3-5
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [4] "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. [5] "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
    (ESV)Numbers 12:3
Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth.

    Meekness is strength under control.
For us to understand meekness- is to put a bridle in the mouth of an animal...
Strength under control.. to be used for the betterment of others. The anmals strength iz not taken away. Intenional power... like bridling the tongue...
    Moses was strong...

    The opposite of sulkness...
Do u want to be meek? Like Jesus? Look to Jesus... knowing what Judas was going to do or what Peter was going to...
    (ESV)Philippians 2:3-8
Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. [4] Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. [5] Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, [6] who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, [7] but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. [8] And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

    God's depth of love...
Gal 5: fruit of the Spirit..

    (ESV)Galatians 5:22-24
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. [24] And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Practicing God's love in community ... meekness has to spring from trust... learning to trust God... what happens to my heart? You don't have to scheme or strive- b'cuz' everything u need is in Jesus ...
The meek are blessed ... in God's hands...
Drawing from that source... the hands of Jesus.
You don't need to take from people. Just Jesus. You are blessed when u r meek. Cuz yer springing forth from the source .
Jesus came as a meek man. He choose the path of meekness. He came in grace... to break paradigms... like when He washed their feet in tenderness and grace...
    (ESV)1 Peter 2:23
When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.
Jesus yeilded himself to the unfair treatment to align Himself in meekness ...
    Jesus inacted meekness by surrendering
    His will...
    Our

    (ESV)Psalm 37:3-9, 11
Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. [4] Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. [5] Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. [6] He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. [7] Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! [8] Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. [9] For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land. [11] But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.

Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth.
"Meekness is having hands that are extended toward God."

You don't need anything but through Christ alone...
A meek heart is confident that God has everything it needs...
